reblog if you stand in solidarity with our trans* community members, and stand AGAINST CB
I want to reblog this because Cathy Brennan is one of the scummiest human beings on the planet,
but this feels kind of icky, like, “I know trans people have been saying this forever, but I’m cis, so it’s even MORE valid because I’M saying it so you should listen to ME.”
I’m interested to hear thoughts from trans folks on this kind of thing, if you’re interested in talkin about it. Feel free to send me an ask if you don’t want to add to this post.
I’m fine with it, myself. It’s good knowing trans people don’t have to deal with this alone. I see it less as “I’m cis so my opinion carries more weight” and more like “Cathy says there’s no such thing as ‘cis’ and that trans people are harmful, and hey, guess what? WE KINDA DISAGREE.” When cis people openly state their opposition to anti-trans bigotry, then the minefield of “cis people who are all potentially anti-trans” I have to wade through every day feels a little smaller. I’d rather deal with the unintentional cissexism among people who are at least trying, than the overt violent variety.
Just don’t expect cookies or pats on the back for it, and we’re all good.
