so I’ve been following some of the discussions about the Dyke March bullshit Cathy Brennan is trying to pull, which involved watching the video of what CB is trying to spin as “assault.” Seriously, that is some fancy fucking bullshit. I hear CB raising her voice, cutting people off, and being rude as fuck, while women trying to talk to her are calm and decent and trying to have a legitimate conversation and give trans women a voice. I’m not going to pretend I have any more insight or information than what I’ve gleaned from the video and other tumblr conversations, but I felt compelled to at least say this:
Ida Hammer, you’re a fucking badass. I don’t know you, but I wish I did <3
I know Ida probably won’t see that, but I have so much unbelievable respect for her after reading the shit going back and forth. CB is a conniving, bigoted asshole (oh man, but I’m insulting a cis woman so that must make me a huuUuUuUuge misogynist) and the fact that she felt SHE was the one being attacked because someone questioned her ass-backward ~*wbw*~ ~*females-first*~ ~*lolwutislogic*~ bullshit at Dyke March is ridiculous to the point of hilariousness.
And it’s 7am and I’m a lot less articulate than I’d like to be but I just wanted to say something (though I acknowledge that I am not a woman and not a dyke so my input is simply a show of support and not a necessary or important voice in the conversation).
tl;dr I know it might not mean much, but I stand in solidarity with Ida Hammer and all of my trans sisters, because people like Cathy Brennan are getting away with fucked up shit and it’s seriously not ok.

What I love is that people are taking the bitterness and hatred Cathy hurls at people, and turning it into something beautiful. This is an opportunity to show solidarity, to support each other, and show the love we have for each other. Even more important than striking back is supporting each other. When we stand together hatemongers can’t knock us down.
